So… You’ve Got Your Results. What’s Next?
The wait is over. Results day has been and gone – you’ve opened the envelope, checked the email, or nervously scrolled through your online portal. You’ve laughed, you’ve breathed a sigh of relief, maybe even shed a tear. Now comes the big question: What’s next?
At Graduate Career Solutions, we’re usually known for helping graduates land their first roles. But we’re also here to support you at the very start of your journey – whether you’re heading to university, considering an apprenticeship, or still figuring it all out.
If You’re Heading to University
If you’ve secured your place, well done! This is where the adventure begins. Now’s the time to:
-
Get your place confirmed – Check UCAS and make sure everything is updated.
-
Sort accommodation – Whether it’s halls or a shared house, don’t leave it too late.
-
Connect with your new community – Join group chats, follow your course’s socials, and start meeting the people you’ll be studying with.
Not quite met your offer? Don’t panic. Clearing can open doors to brilliant universities and courses you might not have considered.
If You’re Thinking Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship lets you earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience alongside recognised qualifications. It can be the perfect choice if you prefer a more practical route than full-time study.
We’re part of the Nicholas Associates Group, and one of our partnering brands, Apprentice Employment Agency, can match you with apprenticeship opportunities across the country. They’ll support you from your first application right through to starting in your new role.
If You’re Taking a Gap Year
A year out can be more than just “time off.” It’s a chance to explore the world, build work experience, volunteer, or even start a side hustle. You might discover skills and passions that help you make clearer choices later.
If You’re Still Figuring Things Out
Not everyone knows their next step straight away, and that’s okay. Use this time to:
-
Speak with a careers adviser for personalised guidance.
-
Explore short-term work or volunteering to get a taste of different industries.
-
Research courses, training, or alternative qualifications.
Your Journey Starts Here
Your results are just one part of your story. They don’t limit what you can achieve – they’re simply the springboard into your next chapter.
Whether you’re off to university, stepping into an apprenticeship, taking a gap year, or still exploring your options, remember: you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Graduate Career Solutions is here to share advice, resources, and opportunities – so you can take your next step with confidence.
